It was our sons 21st birthday on Saturday. The day was going along fine from our perspective, we were meeting family for his birthday dinner at a restaurant. Before leaving we had to intervene in something that was most unpleasant but we are surviving.
Hoping that the old adage, "Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger." holds true. If that is so, Dad and Mom must be some real bad asses. LOL
Things seem to be on track now, sometimes that one day at time stuff just slaps you up side the head and does a hit and run. Only thing left to do is shake it off , get up, and keep moving forward.

Be gentle with yourselves. Give yourself a minute to process your life. *Then* shake it off, get up and move forward. :o)
And yeah....us parents of addicts are bad asses. I think we have to tap into strength that we didn't know was ever available to us to make it through with some sort of semblance of sanity.
My daughters life, with all of it's difficulty, made me a much better human being. Hang in there. jeNN
I like to say I'm still standing. I used to think I might not make it, but now I know I will.
You just never know when life is gonna slap you upside the head, huh! Happy Birthday to your son and may life treat you kindly as you make your way through it! Blessings! Lisa
Good for you!! You should have taken him to a meeting for his birthday present. We addicts are so hard headed, and for this little addict ( I'm in the remedial program) it takes a while for the reality to sink in.
From my perspective, you are doing a great job being his parents and have a lot of wisdom. Keep up the good work (and it is work...)
