Partnership Followup

My last Partnership posting was re-post of a letter I wrote for Alex. It must have had some kind of impact on a few people at The Partnership because the next article they published at the Intervene site was an essay about my essay (letter). The writer is the Online Community Manager for The Partnership, Olivia Chao.

You can find her article here:

Awesome reminder there are other ways we can communicate in this word of text messages!
Last week I sent Heather a "thinking of you" card, and only wrote, "I love you. Mom"
God bless.

You are so correct. I find it difficult to express myself to Ryan sometimes. The “here we go again looks.” Yikes, so discouraging. About a month ago I sent him a letter. He thanked me for it and I actually felt better after writing it. Laura

Glad that you were the inspiration for this.

I am just getting caught up on your blog. Wow, the heartbreak of seeing that sober gleam in his eye and then gone. I truly believe parents of addicts have post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)- because when you see a 1/2 bottle of codiene missing you get that old feeling of panic. It is a familiar devastating pain. Sometimes I find I need to tell my son, in detail, about how I experience these times because he sees this mostly from his point of view. He knows he hurts others but does not always remember his behavior and the trauma to witnesses those of us who experience it.
After the death of one of K's friends this week, a great kid with a great family,I really feel motivation to somehow get involved in this war on drugs.

Nice work, Grover - you're inspiring conversation and ideas that are spreading across the internet to help this horrible mess so many find themselves in.
