A Bank Account

What so special about a bank account? It is that place that charges you more money if you run out of or have no money, right? Everybody has one.

What is so special is that yesterday my son opened a bank account. It is part of the requirements of his life at The Center. This way I will set him up for direct deposit of his paycheck and he can begin paying off his fines and clear his warrants.

Sometimes the only steps you can look for and appreciate are the baby steps. I'll take whatever I can get. Dad is happy and proud, I hope this is a start. (again)

Funny how something that seems so small and insignifigant can actually be a pretty big deal. Baby steps is right!

Although I wrongly pin hopes on such possitive events, I remind myself that it's good to compliment my son on the positives and breathe.

Each step is a step closer to being a responsible adult. I would be proud too.

As a banker, I really get this significance. This happens several times a week - I see people come and open an account and can feel the pride that comes with gettting your life back on track. I like these days.

It's a step in the right direction and certainly warrants you being proud!

Congratulations! I think you and your son are taking very positive steps on the journey of recovery. I'm happy for you that things are going so well. I wish you the best. I think that son is very lucky to have you both.

My daughter walked out of the 4th rehab over two years ago, got a job, opened a bank account and has almost paid her car off. Tomorrow she is coming over to cook us a meal, she tells us at least once a week how much she appreciates all that we did for her. There is so much hope in your son's small steps. Keep the faith.
