Another One

Here is a sister writing about her brother's issue and how it affects her and her parents. A unique perspective from a sibling.

Sweet letter. Painful to read as well. All at the same time. Addiction is so heart wrenching.

It never seems to end, does it? Thanks for sending us over to Julie's blog...I know that the words of hope and encouragement that I've found through these blogs has been a tremendous help for me.

Hi - I know I had some readers from here - owing to work I've had to shift my blog to

workingandpinning.blogspot.com

Thanks for the additional link. The only thing is though, that all these blogs are so negative towards addiction. I agree that some people get into real trouble and that it can be a terrible thing (I've seen some horrific things). Be aware though, that some people enjoy their addiction and manage it ok. I'm one of them. Please, don't judge us all the same way...

For example, I've not had a day off work in 27 months (other than 4 weeks holiday), I have a family, live a comfy middle class life, have a nice car and wife, and earn about USD 75k.

I'm in general a good citizen...

John

John, it seems the people on this blog that you are writing to aren't here to judge people about addiction but as this has become a place where people who are dealing with family members and friends who have addition problems can come and feel understood and not feel so alone. Its a support group. We are all trying to understand addiction and deal with it in different ways. We all have positive and negative things to write because that is what we have dealt with. I don't think anyone is judging you John. I'm glad that you have been able to continue with a good life and keep your addiction under control. There are many who unfortunately can not.
