I know I am suppose to mark day to day as life and progress but there are some things that mean a lot to me in regards to our recent family history. Alex is taking his family on a vacation, not with dad and mom, alone with his family. Not a weekend trip, a real one week vacation to Maryland.
Just seems like a huge milestone. He's a real father, one week driving with a load of family in the car. They are going to a timeshare someone in Kristy's family has loaned them. Three kids in the back of an Explorer going to the beach. 1100 miles one way with three kids in the back seat, Tyler in a car seat. If that isn't a test of recovery I can't imagine anything else. LOL
I feel good.

Our oldest is the manager of Pediatrics at one of the top medical centers in the nation, the middle daughter takes care of our granddaughter and a couple other precious children. Our youngest is troubled with an addiction to drugs but is currently over 2.5 years clear and sober working at a company principally involved in foam and foam fabrication. I love Terri's comment. Yes, the picture in my mind is radiant with joy and handing goldfish to the back seat for the baby to eat while riding, mom reading aloud to keep the troops happy....yeah, real life in recovery. I love this!

What a great picture. Reality is more like this, we got them a portable DVD player last year for Christmas so reality is they will be fighting over what movie to watch, Tyler pulling hair, bored and causing chaos. Mom and Dad wishing there was a glass partition between front and back seats like in a limo.
At least that is how remember cross country road trips.
I take a "girl only" trip every spring to the beach. How I've always wished to take my daughter; she's never seen the ocean. I've taken my younger daughter several times, but not my addict daughter for obvious reasons. Maybe some day soon. Always glad to hear how recovering addicts have gotton back into "life".
Yay for Alex and for all your family. One day at a time!
