ABC News with Diane Sawyer

For those that may be interested. As I mentioned before they had contacted us about being interviewed concerning addiction in families. We declined because Alex and mom did not feel comfortable. Here is an e-mail I just received from Karen Franklin, author and contributor to The Partnership.

Previews of the segment are already on the ABC News website. http://abcnews.go.com/

Hi Ron and Darlene,

Hope all is well with both of you. I am hoping that our publicist did indeed mail a copy of our book out to you. Sorry I did not follow up sooner. I saw on your blog that you were contacted by ABC and will let others know when ABC will be airing segments on families and addiction. My daughter and I were contacted also in January and we taped the next day, but due to the Haiti crisis, it was all put on the shelf for awhile. We have heard that the segments will air this week starting tonight. I don't know if we made the cut or not but we will see. Just thought I would let you know so you can pass the word on through your blog.

Thanks again for the blog and your service to others.

Regards,

Karen Franklin

Thanks, Ron, I'll be sure to watch. I have to wonder what Keven and I would have done in your shoes, my guess is that Keven would want to be on TV and I prefer to hang out in the background.

Thank you for addressing the issue "Living with an alcoholic, or one with addiction." I identified with your family that was previewed Feb. 15th. The mother's quote, "Having her on the street or in prison, is not an option for me." My family and I are living the same family scenario. Neither my husband or myself drink or smoke. We are highly educated, have preached to our children as well as set as example, of healthy living. If someone would have told me I would have a 33 year old, also highly educated, had a great career, living at home again, I would not have believed it. I feel like starting a class action suit due to all the companies that create ads , which are supported by musicians, tv programs, even the Olympics, showing how great liquor can be. It's not. I hope you will continue addressing this issue.
