Why Do We Link Blogs and Follow?

This morning when I was getting ready for work I looked and there was new follower of our blog, Jane. Jane clicked on the follow button and there was her identification. So naturally I checked her profile and saw that she had just began writing her frustrations, anger and heartache in a blog.

It's not that long ago that I began An Addict In Our Son's Bedroom. First a of couple comments and then more and more people read our blog and I read others blogs and the feeling of doom and despair began to subside. We began to feel a comfort that we weren't the only people that had ever been on this path. We gained advice and reassurance from strangers that were soon to become friends.

That is why we link our blogs. I'm sure many of you have experienced the same thing.

We may travel this path individually but we are never alone.

So true. It is good to know that we are not alone in the journey.

Well said! And thanks for pointing us to Jane's blog. I've been blogging for over five years and never have I seen a community like the one that has developed here.

This blog has saved my sanity. It was horrible when I felt so alone. I wish I would have found it years ago. In our own little ways we all can help eachother. This community is a place I can go when I need hope, need comforting and when I feel like I simply can't go on one more day. Invaluable.

You know I feel for you, I really do. A lot of the blogs' titles ... "Broken-Hearted Mom"... "Detatching With Love"... they pretty much say it all.

PS can I ask you something? Does your son have very much or anything to do with NA? Do you know what he thinks of them?

I have a bit of an issue with my local group, who mistook my mental health symptoms for using which really offended me. I'm just TRYING to chill out and drop the matter... I know NA are really good. I've seen them work wonders. I just wish me and the group could engage... but so far it just is not happening :-(

I have met some of the bloggers, and still exchange emails with people from my old blog. It has been a very positive experience.

I wrote for about 8 months with no followers except one or two family members (it was a way to keep them "informed" without their having to ask, which they were embarrassed to do). And then someone found me and linked and I found others and it was truly a God Send for me to realize I was not alone.

I can't imagine my life without my blogging community! Happy Mothers Day to Mom, by the way! :)

Thank you for your blog. I'm new to blogging and also a mother of an addict. Your blog as well as many others inspired me to blog my journey with my heroin addicted son.

Ron, you blog was one of the first that I found and it helped me more than I can say and yes being able to visit others through the links was really a lifeboat for me.
