This is a very good clip from a mother who lost her son to a heroin overdose.
It doesn't matter how famous you are, or rich, or poor addiction does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone.
Jeannie couldn't just fold her arms and nod her head to fix her son. Barbara Eden suffered with her son too as we all have when a loved one is addicted. I dream that Jeannie could fix all our children this way.
Please watch the 90 second video and pay attention to the end. Break the stigma and reach out. Silence is a killer. The only hope is when we ALL grasp hands outreached.
Grasping an outstretched hand for help is not something only our addicted children must do.

I have being sober for almost five years now, sometimes I fell falling back into the old habits but I always remember what the people from www.northpointrecovery.com would tell me when I spent sometime with them, they said that love was the key to staying in a clear path so please always remember that we will always be strong as long as we something strong enough to hold on like love, it can even be love for yourself, you do not necessarily need another person but that does help.
As a recovering drug addict I can tell you that I put my mother through so much pain. I am so lucky to be alive and to be able to tell others about the danger of addiction. I was also the child of a drug addict. My father was/is a drug addict. Addiction has been a part of my whole life. I am thankful you guys are sharing your story about being parents of an addict. Keep up the good work. My blog is addictiontorecovery.blogspot.com if you want to check it out.
I watched Heroin addiction destroy a friends life to the point many of us stopped talking to him completely. Seemed like he would try to quit over and over again even when we thought he was clean it would turn out that he was using again. Im happy to say that he is now clean for almost 4 years thanks to help he got from a suboxone doctor near me. I took him up there and even paid for his first visit. I thought this was going to be just another attempt to quit using and sadly he would return to his old habits. I was wrong. Now Thomas is doing well and is active in the local addiction community trying to get addicts to enter treatment. I mention this because even if you have tried to quit and not succeeded you should try one of these suboxone clinics as it made a world of difference for Thomas. Here is the website for the suboxone treatment center near me.
http://kymedicalcenter.com/ I hope this heroin trend disappears soon.
Hi I am the mother of an adult addict. My sons choice of drugs in heroin. Although this has been an eleven year struggle of using and abusing I just recently started blogging about it. I am also active in community awareness. I spent most of those years alone due to the stigma. My blog is The Chronicles of Loving An Addict https://memorialvigil.blogspot.com/
Took me a while to get a grip of my emotions after watching the video. I have a niece in rehab and I and the rest of the family were so pleased when she put out her hand for help. She's doing well, the guys at www.northpointwashington.com are doing a tremendous job with her. I can only hope and pray her recovery continues and she finds others in her life that will always accept an offered hand. Thank you for sharing this. I have sent your website to my niece.
