Every Christmas he would drive the family "up to Kansas City" to see the Christmas lights at the Plaza.<br /><br />Also, dad drove us to Topeka after the 1966 tornado. There was miles and miles of nothing but bathtubs and toilets still standing among the debris. It really made an impression on a little kid like me.
