Rejoicing, One Moment and Event At A Time

I'm not a superstitious guy but deep inside I think most people get that fear of jinxing something good if you acknowledge it, I guess I can be counted as one of those people too. But sometimes we must live on the edge.

It is so nice to have my son in a place where we can sit down, enjoy a meal together and talk.

It is so nice not to look at my son and be afraid.

It is so nice to see my son smile without pinpoint pupils.

It is so nice to feel a level of trust in him to make decisions that creates honor for himself.

Enjoy today and rejoice. I have seen the possible. I believe in the future and I believe in my son.

Its seems so long ago but just like yesterday Monday, July 12, 2010 and Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Where there is life there is hope.

Sometimes hope is all we have. At least we still have that. I take consolation in hope daily. Enjoy those special times with yur son.

Enjoy your present without expectations for tommorrow. Be fully present in each moment. That is what an alanon friend told me and I know it is so. I feel happy for you!

I am happy for you. Keep the faith, and enjoy today. Each day your love and support will build on your son's sobriety. The more you sit and talk with him, the more your relationship will be reconstructed. It is like building a castle from pebbles, but eventually, if all goes right, you will have an enormous, intricate, and beautiful construction where each piece of the foundation is supported by faith and love. The walls at the top are constructed with trust. Those top walls take the longest to build, but once built...they will reinforce the safety of the castle. Your son is lucky to have great parents who are helping him to cement this foundation, one tiny peeble at a time. I am very happy for both of you, and for your son.

Dad and Mom...check out todays post titled disppointed. I think there are parts about the struggle in that first year that may resonate with you and your son. Recovery really is worth it, and I think it is important for addicts to hear that from other addicts who are now clean. Oh yeah...thanks for the props, by the way. I will let you know if I ever open a restaurant!

That's great! It's such a feeling of ease throughout your entire life when that one person is doing great.
Enjoy every moment and take the time to notice how good you feel as many times during the day as you can:)
